About me

I have been playing music since I got my first guitar at age 7.  Spent many years playing rock & roll and then in 1998 discovered many other musical avenues....

1998-2004 Studied Arabo-Andaluse Music of North Africa with Omar Ait-Vimoun at the Pacific Conservatory of North African Music, San Francisco, CA
2000-2007 Studied Turkish oud with Necati Celik and Ali Sinan Erdemsel, California and Istanbul
2001-2003 Studied Instrumental Music (Sarod) at the Ali Akbar School of North Indian Classical Music, San Rafael, CA
2002-2007 Studied Persian Tar with Mohammed Nejad, and Ashkan Qafari, San Francisco, CA

2006 - Traveled to Greece to study with the Afghan Rebab player, Rahim Khoshnawaz of Herat as part of Ross Daly's Labyrinth Music Seminars Series.

2007 - Moved to Istanbul, Turkey to play music and study the bağlama saz with Berkant Kaya.

In addition to having a deep appreciation of middle-eastern music, I spend my free-time studying Farsi and Turkish and enjoy reading and translating stories and songs.
