Flood

by Rashid Raz

Between sleep and wakefulness

Between dreams and reality

Between existence and annihilation

Suddenly a flood arrives

And my eyes...

Imagine I was sleeping

And the wind, heedless

Had stolen something from me

And I didn't know

Suppose the whole of my existence

Had been captive

And something was sown inside me

A grain of love and affection brought to the fertile fields of my heart

And blood flowed through my veins

Like a resonant voice

I was all

It was all

Between sleep and wakefulness

...

And my being was brought to tremble

Suddenly a flood arrives

And it carried away everything

It carried away everything
